Meet Mindy mccray

Mindy McCray is a wife, mother, sister, daughter and FRIEND.  She is also a woman awaiting a life saving kidney transplant.

Mindy suffers from a rare, genetic disease, called Alport Sydrome.  This disease has caused Mindy to lose most of her hearing and is the cause for her need for a second kidney transplant to live.

​

In the past 6 months alone, Mindy has been hospitalized more than 7 times, and almost lost her life, due to medical complications caused by the need of a kidney.  In January of 2021, Mindy had a major heart attack, because of the narrowing of her arteries due to long-term kidney disease.  She has also suffered from sepsis, c-diff, pulmonary edema, fluid overload, extremely high blood pressure, and several other medical conditions that have landed her in the critical care unit this year.

Mindy has been on the kidney transplant list for over 2 years. The current wait for a kidney from a deceased donor is approximately 5 years or more. But, with her deteriorating health, Mindy may not have the time to wait for a donor, so her family is seeking the help of a living angel. And, due to her declining heart health, time is of the essence as she is no longer eligible for a deceased kidney donor.  Mindy must receive the gift of life through a living kidney donor.​

Many people ask about Mindy's family, and if they have been tested.  The answer is yes. However, those who have tested have not qualified as a donor match.  Mindy's daughters have also offered to donate their kidneys, but due to their genetic kidney disease, neither are eligible to help their mom.

​

So, we created this place to help find a special person who can save her life by becoming her living kidney donor. We understand that our ask to help save our mother, wife, sister, and friend, is a BIG one.  We do not take it lightly.  And, not everyone wants or can be a living donor- and that is OKAY! However, we believe there is someone out there who can help, and that you can help us find them.
